1996 Mini Cooper LE

The Mini Cooper 35th Anniversary Limited Edition was produced by Rover in 1996 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the first iconic Mini Cooper in 1961. Of 1700 cars produced, 1500 were exported to Japan with the remaining cars sold to John Cooper garages in the UK. The cars were painted in almond green or red with a white roof and have a full porcelain leather interior, air conditioning and are powered by the reliable 1275cc single-point fuel-injected engine.

This car is completely original other than an aftermarket exhaust and has only travelled 58,494 miles over the last 22 years. Totally rust-free, the car has been exceptionally well cared for with everything running as it should. The original and very rare aluminium roof rack is included in the sale. The car has the original polished walnut dash. Imported back into the UK from Japan in 2008 and is currently located in West London.

This example lived in Japan for the first 12 years of its life where climatic conditions and Japanese culture were both very good to the car. A dry temperate climate (without the need for road salt) makes for the great body condition. The car was also subject to the strict Japanese Shaken government road-tests which get stricter as the car gets older. It was imported into the UK in 2008 and dry stored within a collection of minis in Ireland by the same owner for the last ten years. During this time the car was run regularly but covered only limited miles. The car has undergone a full service and health check conducted by the CCC and our in-house mechanical team. It comes with a years MOT with no advisories.
